Information from the Student Union about CHARM 2017

New thinking during CHARM 2017

Development of concepts for events and execution of these are always of interest to make them as good as possible. CHARM 2017, Chalmers Student Union Career Fair, have chosen to introduce pay desks to charge for  entry at the entrances to this year’s fair.

As an employee or student at Chalmers, you will have the opportunity to take part of the fair for free, as it always has been. At the entrances with pay desks, there will be signs showing employees and students to select the correct entrance and avoid queuing. Once there, state that you are an employee of Chalmers and go through to the fair, J.A. Pripps or STORE. There will be a pay desk by the conference entrance and a control will take place outside of STORE in the Student Union Building.

Please feel free to come and meet us in our DS booth during CHARM!

Good news from Migrationsverket!!

“A doctoral student can now obtain a residence permit valid for two years at a time provided that all conditions, such as supply, are met. This is not only a first application for a residence permit, but also means that a doctoral student who applies for extension have the opportunity to apply for and receive a two-year residence permit for studies. The revised practice also applies to co-applicants to PhD.”

Nominations for the Supervisor of the Year 2016/2017 award

Dear colleagues, fellow PhD students – it’s time to nominate your supervisors to the honorable prize: “Supervisor of the Year“.

The prize is a fine academic merit and it will be awarded by the rector at the promotion ceremony in May, 2017. It acknowledges a supervisor at Chalmers, who has shown excellent supervision qualities and a large concern towards his/her PhD students.

  • If you think that your supervisor deserves the prize, send us his/her name together with a motivation letter (between 1 and 3 pages).
  • Please include all members of the group (current and PhD students who graduated less than a year ago) standing for the nomination.
  • Remember that the prize is assigned to main supervisors, but if he/she co-supervises other students, they can be included in the application.

Nominations are open from October 17 to November 28, 2016.
Send them to:

After the deadline all nominations will be reviewed by the Doctoral Student Guild Committee. The PhD students of candidates selected in a systematic process will be interviewed. The Committee will then recommend the competitively chosen supervisor to the rector for the Award.
